How to Update a Product Category in Amazon Seller Central?

Modify the Product Category

1. By Contacting Support

It is strongly advised to contact Support for a new seller if you do not want to tamper with the backend.

Ask the Support to make the desired changes so your product can be seen in the correct category.

If you want to re-create your product in the desired category list, following up is key. If the problem stemmed from Amazon’s side, you could ask customer support for reimbursement.

2. Modify using ‘Manage Inventory’

Step 1: Log in to your Seller Central, and click ‘Inventory’. From the drop-down menu that appears, select ‘Manage Inventory’.

Step 2: Find the product you wish to change and click on ‘Edit’ at the right-hand corner of the listing.

Step 3: On the new page that appears, Select ‘Vital info,’ scroll down to the ‘Category Type’ section and click on the ‘Edit’ button. A new dialogue box will appear with all the available category types.

Step 4: Start by finding the most suitable main category. There will be a drop-down box with sub-categories. Select the second sub-category and you’ll be directed to another page where you can either search for an interest of your choice or use the sidebar to narrow your search.



Step 5: Select the ‘Category/ Item Type’ row to find the complete chain of new categories. Click ‘Finish’ to store your work.

You can see categories on a product’s page, like on the search results page or in their product listing. It’s not visible in Seller Central but you can get this report by reaching Support.
